Ask Entrepreneur UMP 2011 Guaranteed

JAKARTA: Employers ask for guarantees of legal certainty of DKI Jakarta Provincial Government related to the establishment of provincial minimum wage increases (UMP), 2011 at 7.15% to Rp1.197.947 per month as agreed in Jakarta Wage Council.
Chairman of the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) Jakarta Soeprayitno said Wage Council comprising all elements of workers, employers and government have worked hard to calculate the amount of UMP that can be accepted by all parties.

`In all democratic elements pekarja representatives who are members of the Council had agreed to increase Changing UMP DKI 2011 at 7.15%, so it does not feel right if there is less agreement and then bring the problem out of a fairly democratic forum,` he said today.

He acknowledged the increase UMP was not yet reached the ideal amount equal to the amount of rate requirement for decent living (KHL) in Jakarta. However, said Soepriyatno, UMP determination was based on the development rate of inflation, economic growth and worker productivity.

According to him, there is no legislation that requires the minimum wage increase of 100% of the KHL is used for the standard single worker.

He said Apindo Jakarta hopes that the problem did not become a political commodity by a certain party due to weakness Jakarta government in ensuring the implementation of the Wage Board agreement related increase in UMP DKI Jakarta in 2011.

Previous Members Forum Establishments Labour Association of elements of the Indonesian Trade Union Muhammad Rusdi said it will file a judicial review to the Constitutional Court on the Jakarta government's decision to increase the provincial minimum wage (UMP) in 2011 by 7% to Rp1.196.269 per month.

Increase of 7% of the UMP DKI in 2010 amounted to Rp1.118.009 per month, he said, unconstitutional because it does not comply with the mandate of Law No. 13/2003 on Manpower that regulate a large increase of 100% of the number KHL. (Luz)
