Libya plans on raising its oil production to 900,000 barrels

“We have been producing 300,000 barrels per day for several months, and we are gradually moving to 600,000 barrels per day. Our target is to reach 900,000 barrels,” Houcine El Badawi, head of the Telecommunications Department at Libya's state-owned National Oil Corporation (NOC), said on the sidelines of the 6th International Exhibition of Equipment and Services for Oil and Gas Products (Equip’Gaz 2017) held in Hassi Messaoud, a city in Ouargla province, 800 km south of the capital Algiers.Libya’s oil production was set back in 2013 by internal strife, but is now recovering after the reopening of oil exports, Xinhua reported. With the recent reopening of the Al-Sharara and Al-Feel oil fields in southern Libya, experts say that total production could eventually reach 1.5 million barrels per day. (A026)
