Trade Expo Indonesia in Qatar a Success

Counsellor of the Indonesian Embassy in Qatar, Boy Dharmawan, told ANTARA on Monday that apart from Indonesia, other ASEAN members who also presented the potential for investment and their business ventures were Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
The event attended by around 200 business actors from ASEAN and Qatar was opened with remarks by QCCI Deputy Chairman Muhammed Bin Ahmed Bin Towar Al Kuwari and ACD 2016 Chairman Singapore Ambassador Wong Kwok Pun.
Abu Dhabi, Deputy Director of Indonesia Trade Promotion Center Dubai, Bagas Haryotejo, said the 2016 Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) is Indonesias largest annual trade fair.

He said the TEI in 2015 was attended by 1,046 exhibitors and more than 14 thousand overseas business actors. Apart from promoting the TEI, he also presented the potential for business and investment in the downstreaming of agricultural and mining products.Indonesian Ambassador to Qatar, Air Marshal (Ret.) Muhammad Basri Sidehabi, said the seminar was a follow-up to the meeting between the Indonesian-chaired ASEAN ambassadors and the QCCI on December 13.In the one-on-one meeting, Ambassador Sidehabi presented the various concrete steps and strategies taken by the government to make Indonesia an attractive destination for business and investment to domestic and foreign investors, including through an online system and one-stop service.He added that for investors meeting certain criteria, Indonesia will speed up the issuance of business permits to a maximum of three hours, especially those located in industrial zones.Based on observations and feedback from participants, Qatar business actors and investors generally see ASEAN, in particular Indonesia, as a destination for business and investment, which is reflected in the increasing realization of Qatari investment in Indonesia.Ambassador Sidehabi expressed that Qatari investment commitments in Indonesia have shown an increasing trend since President Jokowis September 2015 visit. It was conveyed that in order to increase the flow of foreign investment, the Jokowi-JK government issued policy packages on investment to reduce bureaucracy.
