"First, to improve the equity participation of university, we will build, support, and encourage new State Universities (PTN)," said Ahmad Heryawan after holding a Leadership Meeting with a number of Region Apparatus Organizations (OPD) at Gedung Sate Bandung, Tuesday.
He said that ITB Cirebon Campus plan will open two study programs and ITB Bekasi Campus will open three study programs.
"Regarding the details of the study programs, that is better known by the rectorate, but the opening of the two study programs is aligned with the needs of the local community," he said.
According to him, the local government has prepared 18 hectares of land for ITB Cirebon Campus and 40 hectares for ITB Bekasi Campus.
"So the ITB in Cirebon, the land is from the West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov Jabar) and the one in Bekasi is from the Bekasi Regency Government," said Aher, Ahmad Heryawan's nickname.
Meanwhile, Aher continued, for IPB Campus in the Sukabumi Regency, it is still in the discussion stage between the Provincial Government and the local Regency Government, and it is aimed to be able to open study programs this year.
"The land for IPB Sukabumi is available, the land is 11 hectares. The building will be built later, the important thing first is the land," he said.
He further said that the West Java Provincial Government is also trying to establish a Padjadjaran University Campus in the Bandung Regency.
His party hopes that the three new campuses can be launched in mid-2016, between May or June 2016.
"What is clear is that the purpose of establishing this new PTN is to equalize education and improve the quality of education in West Java," he said.
