Indonesia's Commitment to Implementing Sustainable Development

“Whoever masters the energy will master the world. This makes the advanced countries, including the European Union, worried.  Finally, they postpone the development of the palm oil,” he said in an official statement to InfoSAWIT recently.

He also said that the commitment to improve the governance of palm oil plantations to equal the sustainable development goals globally is done through many methods, such as the improvement of Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO).

As the sustainable standards of palm oil plantation governance in Indonesia, ISPO has the same goals as global standards, such as reducing deforestation, reducing greenhouse gas emissions from changes in land use, and obedience to other regulations, such as labor and human rights.

“The improvement of ISPO adopts the values in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs are a global development agenda agreed upon at the United Nations which is to be realized by 2030,” said Togar. (T2)
