C Sulawesi`s CPO exports recorded at US$14.4 million
The Indonesian province of Central Sulawesi exported 25,550 tons of crude palm oil worth US$14.463 million to a number of countries in the January-November 2007 period, a regional trade official said here on Wednesday.

Chief of Central Sulawesi`s Trade and Industry office, Ali Landeng, said that most of the CPO exports were shipped by PT Lentona and PT Surya Raya Lestari.

He said that Central Sulawesi`s CPO exports went to Singapore, Vietnam, China and Malaysia.

Landeng hoped that local exporters would continue to increase the quality of their CPO so that they would be able to compete with other countries in the world market.

"If the quality of products meets the market standards, buyers will not hesitate and will purchase them at high prices," he said.

He said that CPO was a main product of Central Sulawesi besides cacao seeds.

The trade official said that Central Sulawesi had 14 export commodities, of which 12 were industrial products such as wood-based construction materials, processed ebony, coconut powder, rattan, CPO and furniture.

Central Sualwesi`s non-oil and gas commodity exports in the January-November 2007 period totaled US$175.458 million. Cacao seeds still constituted the biggest foreign exchange earner, contributing US$153 million to the total exports.
