RUBBER PRICES December 22: Strengthen Again, Encouraged by Chinese Stimulus Speculations
The rubber contract for May 2016 delivery, the most active contract on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange, closed up 0.18% to a price of 167.10 yen or Rp18,881 per kilogram.
The price of rubber strengthened after fluctuating between a drop of 0.48% to 166 yen per kilogram and a gain of 0.72% to 168 yen per kilogram.
The commodity gained strength driven by speculation of additional monetary stimulus from China that could potentially boost demand from the world's largest consumer of rubber.
The Chinese government has promised a more flexible monetary policy and a more effective fiscal policy to drive economic growth.
