Approved by Minister of Health, Jakarta PSBB Starts Tuesday, April 7th 2020
`It (has been signed). I believe DKI was the first to submit their application. It was signed last night,” said the Head of Public Opinion and Media Division of the Health Ministry, Busroni, to journalists, Tuesday (April 7, 2020). The approval was followed up with the issuance of Decree of the Indonesian Health Minister No. HK.01.07/MENKES/239/2020 on the Imposition of PSBB in DKI Jakarta Province to Accelerate the Handling of Covid-19.The Ministerial Decree was enacted in Jakarta on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. `This Ministerial Decree shall come into force on the date of its enactment,` reads the fourth dictum in the Ministerial Decree. This means that PSBB to accelerate the handling of the coronavirus outbreak in DKI Jakarta will take effect on this Tuesday. Based on a copy of the Ministerial Decree received by Kompas.com, the decree consists of four dictums. The first dictum reads, `To impose PSBB in DKI Jakarta Province in order to accelerate the handling of Covid-19`.The second dictum reads, `The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta shall implement large-scale social restrictions as referred to in the first dictum in accordance with the provisions of the prevailing laws and shall consistently encourage and disseminate healthy and clean living practices to the public`. Meanwhile, the third dictum reads, `PSBB as referred to in the second dictum shall be implemented during the longest incubation period and may be extended should there be evidence of the continuation of the transmission`.Previously, Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan proposed the status of PSBB for Jakarta on Thursday (April 2, 2020). The proposal complies with the provisions of Government Regulation (PP) No. 21 of 2020 on PSBB to Accelerate the Handling of Covid-19. Anies proposed the PSBB status because Jakarta is the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak. The number of Covid-19 cases in the capital city continues to increase.
In DKI Jakarta alone, as of Monday, April 6, 2020, the number of positive Covid-19 patients has reached 1,268. The number has increased by 125 from the previous day. Of the total number above, 67 patients have recovered, 284 are self-isolating, 791 are still receiving intensive care, and 126 have died.
