Ministry of Religion: Islamic New Year remains on August 11, 2021, 1 Muharram 1443 H
`The Islamic New Year remains 1 Muharram 1443 H, coinciding on 10 August 2021 AD. The holiday has been moved to 11 August 2021 AD,` said Kamaruddin Amin in Jakarta, Wednesday (4/8/2021). This change is contained in the Joint Decree of the Minister of Religion, the Minister of Manpower, and the Minister of PAN RB No. 712, 1, and 3 of 2021 concerning the Second Amendment to the Joint Decree of the Minister of Religion, the Minister of Manpower, the Minister of PAN, and RB No. 642, 4, and 4 of 2020 concerning National Holidays and Joint Leave. In addition to the holiday in commemoration of 1 Muharram 1443 H, there is also a change in the holiday in commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad's Birthday, 12 Rabiul Awwal 1443 H. `Initially the holiday was October 19, which changed to October 20, 2021 AD,` he explained. `Meanwhile, the joint leave in the context of Christmas on December 24, 2021 AD, has been canceled,` he continued. Kamaruddin explained that this policy is part of efforts to prevent and handle the spread of Covid-19. `This is an attempt to anticipate the emergence of new clusters, therefore it is deemed necessary to make changes to holidays and joint leave in 2021 AD,` he said. `So only the holidays have changed, not the religious holidays,` he emphasized.
