Pertamina Claims to Purchase 600,000 KL of Biodiesel in Q1-2016

In purchasing 600 thousand kl of biodiesel, Pertamina collaborates with a private company that has been long engaged in the oil and gas industry, PT AKR.

"We support B20, from January to March, Pertamina purchases 200 thousand KL per month. In total, 600 thousand KL were purchased by Pertamina and AKR," explained Chief Executive of the Palm Oil Plantation Fund Management Agency (BPDP), Bayu Krisnamurthi, at his office in Central Jakarta, Monday (4/18/2016).

The two oil companies will also collaborate to make a bigger purchase of biodiesel. This is done to meet the domestic demand of biodiesel.

"Pertamina and AKR will soon sign a contract in May for 1.5 to 1.6 million KL of biodiesel, as part of the B20 PSO," Bayu said.

The domestic demand for biodiesel reaches 170 thousand KL per six months, and is added by the consumption demand for PLN power plants, which is 225 thousand KL per month.

"This figure has accommodated the national solar demand by 10%, about 150 thousand to 170 thousand KL for six months. There is an additional 200 thousand to 225 thousand KL per month from PLN," Bayu explained.

Responding to the large amount of consumption, Bayu said that there is the potential for the increase of the national biodiesel demand in 2016.

"Roughly, the domestic biodiesel demand remains or increases slightly compared to the previous plan," Bayu concluded. (feb/feb)
