AP II Celebrates National Customer Day by Improving Services. `Since the terminal has started operating on August 9th, we have received a lot of input from users and stakeholders,` Corporate Secretary and Legal Head of Angkasa Pura II Agus Haryadi said in an official statement on Monday (5/9/2016).
`We have been making efforts to provide comfortable services for users, but we will continue to improve them,` Agus added.
Agus said that the company is currently developing supporting facilities around Terminal 3 such as a shelter for public buses Damri.
According to Agus, the issue of water puddles occurring in Terminal 3 when it first began to operate did not significantly affect the comfort of passengers.
`Whenever the flooding happened, we immediately resolved it and now, thank God, there have been no more puddles. That is why it is important for us to evaluate the deficiencies that exist,` Agus said carefully.

Creating Resilient Oil Palm Growers at Asian Agri’s Training Center. But, there was something unusual amid the scorching heat of Riau today. In Mekar Jaya, a village in Kabupaten Pelalawan, Riau, a group of young people in white and brown uniforms were seen walking together enthusiastically to an oil palm plantation area. While walking, the young people asked questions actively to the mentor and tried to answer various questions directed at them. Consisting of 100 talented young people, they are the new batch that will undergo training at the APRIL Asian Agri Learning Institute (AAALI), a top training center in the country for the plantation sector, particularly oil palm. These potential young people were selected from various universities in Indonesia based on their abilities and intelligence. There are not many oil palm training institutions (non-universities) that accommodate the abilities of talented young people in the plantation sector, especially oil palm, in this country. Although the average planting age of oil palm has reached 30 years, the level of knowledge and abilities of Indonesian palm oil farmers and plantation owners is not as mature as the age of the trees there, when compared to the productive age of humans. Realizing this, AAALI aims to facilitate the nation's sons and daughters to obtain additional guidance and knowledge related to the oil palm industry, so that they are more familiar with this prima donna plant of Indonesia. Of course, those who have studied at this training center are aware that the training institution at AAALI is the best place for young plantation owners who want to pursue a career in an industry that supports the economy of this country with 250 million people to develop and learn. Every year, AAALI always opens registration for new participants, divided into three groups. Each group consists of about 100 people. The cadets, the name for AAALI training participants, will be given various training for 6 months. Not only training, the participants will also be given salaries every month, adjusted to the average minimum wage in each province. The salaries will increase to three times the amount if the participants are accepted as permanent employees at Asian Agri. As employees at Asian Agri, they will carry out the tasks and responsibilities of managing plants, and handling operational aspects in the company. Participants who will join will also play a role in the upstream to downstream oil palm management process. They will also be introduced to and be responsible for the processing process using machines, and even accommodation affairs. There are many companies who have tried to recruit AAALI graduates with offers of very high salaries so that they will move to their company. “I am very proud to be selected to participate in this training, and I hope that I can join Asian Agri as an employee when I finish this training,` said Muhammad Yusuf, a graduate of the agricultural engineering program from the University of North Sumatra, Medan. “My senior who is a graduate from AAALI told me that when I graduate later, my standard of living will increase. There will be so many companies that will try to attract us with offers of very high salaries,` he continued. Sufryiadi, supervisor of AAALI acknowledges the statement. He explains that the image of the AAALI training institution is indeed very well-known in the eyes of oil palm companies. This has also been passed on to the AAALI graduates, which have been targeted by so many companies. He admits that he was offered by many companies to move and join them. Not only that, Sufryiadi was also offered a salary much greater than what he was receiving at that time. “Other plantation companies see us, the graduates, as human resources with qualified abilities, with very good attitudes and mindsets,` he said. The AAALI training institution was founded in 2002. Up to now, AAALI has successfully produced more than 2200 top graduates that are spread throughout various industries in Indonesia. This achievement represents Asian Agri's commitment to develop the potential abilities of its human resources. This achievement and success cannot be separated from the role of the top trainers who patiently teach and guide the participants every day. Not only supported by the top trainers in their field, AAALI is also complete with researchers and experts from various top universities in this country, who enthusiastically train the best children to become qualified experts. “Here, we train them to become the best plantation owners with modern technology and complete knowledge of the plantation industry, particularly oil palm. Besides providing knowledge and improving abilities, we also instill the importance of discipline and having a good mindset about values and the practice of sustainable principles so that they can be planted in their hearts and minds,` said Sufryiadi. As an industry that is often accused of being a company that does not practice sustainable businesses, the AAALI curriculum proves that Asian Agri always upholds its commitment to menjalankan responsible business and paying attention to sustainable aspects. A real step that can be seen is how Asian Agri is preparing its front lines very fervently, namely prospective employees as the main investment of the company with attitudes and sustainable business mindsets in accordance with the company principles. Back to Pelalawan, Yusuf hopes that he can make a positive contribution to the company and be able to apply the various knowledge that he has learned during the training. Yusuf comes from a simple family in Mandailing Natal in North Sumatra and explained his family situation, where his father is now too old to work, and his family now depends on the income of his mother who sells food near a market in his hometown. `I want to make my parents proud of me,` he said. Yusuf also expressed his desire to be able to replace his mother's role as the breadwinner of the family someday. `Now, I can already help my family with the salary that I receive now,` said Yusuf. In line with Yusuf's story, Sufryiadi stated that the good image that AAALI has as the best plantation training institution in Indonesia can be a magnet for new graduates, particularly new graduates from top universities in the provinces of Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, and also Sulawesi like Yusuf, to join. “We have the best graduates right now from all over Indonesia, who are ready to learn and contribute, and return it for the progress and development of the country,` said Sufryiadi. CPO PRICE ON SEPTEMBER 5: Palm Oil Surges Supported by These Factors. November 2016 palm oil futures, the most traded contract at the Bursa Malaysia, rose 1.50% or 39 points to 2,634 ringgit per ton at 09:53 a.m. WIB.
Earlier this morning, the palm oil contract was up 0.04% or 1 point to 2,596 ringgit per ton.
In the previous trading day (Friday, 2/9/2016), the November CPO price jumped 2.98% or 75 points to 2,595 ringgit per ton.
As quoted by Bloomberg today, Malaysia and Indonesia contribute to almost all global palm oil production, but reduced production in Malaysia is one of the factors that is pushing up prices. Increased demand in line with higher consumption in major importers such as China and India is also helping to lift prices.
The decline in production thus far in 2016, brought on by the El Nino dry spell, has spurred a rally in Malaysian CPO prices.
According to data from Malaysian Palm Oil Board, production from January-July 2016 fell 15% to 9.17 million tons (MT) compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, according to the “Food Outlook” released by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in June 2016, global palm oil production is expected to shrink for the first time in 18 years after the prolonged dry spell that hit Southeast Asia this year.
On the other hand, demand in China and India is expected to remain robust throughout the festival season during the second half of the year.

Putin said he could propose finalizing the plan when he meets Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the Group of 20 summit (G20) in China later this week.Putin's comments prompted traders to bet on a production freeze deal in coming weeks, which pushed oil prices higher on Friday.US benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude for October delivery gained $1.28 to settle at $44.44 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. European benchmark Brent crude for November delivery rose $1.38 to close at $46.83 a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange. Putin's comments came after Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak a day earlier had appeared to cast doubt on the need for a freeze. Putin and Novak were both also quoted on Friday as saying that Russian output will rise this year.Crude futures prices have fallen for four straight sessions this week on worries that a global supply glut is intensifying.The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) said in its weekly report on Wednesday that US crude inventories rose by 2.3 million barrels to 525.9 million in the week ended Aug. 26, compared with analysts' expectations for an increase of 921,000 barrels.The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is scheduled to meet in Algeria later this month and oil prices have been volatile on speculation that the cartel could agree to limit supply.In an interview with Bloomberg published on Friday, Putin said he was confident that Russia and OPEC, which together account for half of the world's crude output, would agree to a freeze and that any differences with Iran over the issue could be overcome.Iran has pledged to raise production to its pre-sanctions level of 4 million barrels per day. `From the economic point of view, from the point of view of common sense, it would be right to find some kind of compromise,` Putin told Bloomberg. `I am sure that everybody understands that.`Attempts to reach a similar deal in April collapsed when top producer Saudi Arabia resisted pressure from Iran to cede market share.

Agriculture Ministry Predicts La Nina Will Reduce CPO Production by 5. If it drops by 5%, then the crude palm oil (CPO) production this year will be around 29.64 million tons compared to last year's production of 31.20 million tons. While in early 2016, the Ministry of Agriculture projected this year's CPO production to be around 31 million to 32 million tons.The Director of Annual Crops and Refreshments at the Ministry of Agriculture's Directorate General of Plantations, Dwi Praptomo Sudjatmiko, said that the government's concerns were based on the prolonged and even extreme rainfall. If rains continue to occur, the oil palm plants will not be able to produce optimally because they do not get enough sun.`This very high rainfall will affect the fertilization process which will result in higher humidity levels and that is not good for the plants,` said Praptomo.In addition, the effects of waterlogging in the rainy season could potentially lead to oxygen supply difficulties for the oil palm roots. This condition of course results in the fertilization process of the oil palm trees being hampered and reducing production. For that reason, he hopes that the La Nina will remain within normal levels in order for CPO production to remain high and meet targets.According to Dwi, the oil palm plant is a rapidly growing commodity and is encouraging more balanced economic distribution because its plantations are highly concentrated on the islands outside of Java. Oil palm plantations are a strategic sub-sector that contributes significantly to the country's foreign exchange.In 2015, palm oil exports and its derivative products amounted to 20.30 million tons.
